Samiha Binta (Aisha) Sorrower is a PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of Iowa and a member of the Derin Precipitation Lab at IIHR–Hydroscience and Engineering. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Data Science with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Alabama. Her research interests lie at the intersection of environmental data science, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification. She is particularly interested in developing data-driven methods to improve precipitation estimation and forecasting through advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. Outside of research, Samiha enjoys traveling and learning new languages.
